Ticket Sales are Strong for 2016 Bishop Mule Days Events

Bishop Mule Days 2016 entertainment tickets remain in supply, however sales are brisk with the potential to sell out by the first of May. It is strongly encouraged to purchase Opening Night Supper tickets with Dave Stamey, Michael Martin Murphey concert tickets and Friday BBQ tickets as soon as possible to guarantee a seat. Sell out is expected. Mule Days is shaping up to be the strongest year since the recession.

Opening Night Supper with Dave Stamey

Back by popular demand the 2015 Western Music Association Entertainer of the Year Dave Stamey once again will grace the stage of Wednesday’s Opening Night Supper. The crowd will be delighted with soulful vocals and guitar strumming all his famous melodies, as well as more favorites from his newly released album “Western Stories”.

Cowboys & Indians Magazine has called him “the Charley Russell of Western Music.” Dave Stamey has been a cowboy, a mule packer, a dude wrangler, and is now one of the most popular Western entertainers working today. He has been twice voted Entertainer of the Year, three times Male Performer of the Year and twice Songwriter of the Year by the Western Music Association, and received the Will Rogers Award from the Academy of Western Artists. He’s delighted audiences in fourteen states, and finds that he prefers this to being stomped by angry horses.

Michael Martin Murphey in Concert

Widely known for his enduring 1975 crossover hit “WildfireMichael Martin Murphey will headline the Mule Days “Back to our Western Roots” Concert on Thursday, May 26, 2016.  Concert goers will appreciate Murphey’s unique ability to set the poetry of the American West and American cowboy to music with songs like the hauntingly beautiful “Mountain Storm” and the lively “Shake It Off”.

In 2014, American Cowboy named Murphey among the Top 50 Best Country Western Singers of All Time, alongside such icons as Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Roy Rogers, Dale Evans and Gene Autry.

Stand-Up Comedian Frankie “Punkintown” Smith

Not only is Frankie “Punkintown” Smith the Bishop Mule Days clown who entertains the audience with his trick pony, clogging mule and dog, “Little Bit”, he also is a stand-up comedian. Who knew? Punkintown will bring his antics to the Charles Brown Auditorium stage opening the Thursday night concert.

Punkintown says “Entertainment! It is not what I do. It is who I am. It is awesome to wake up every morning and love your job, or at least that’s what some people call it. I say it is great to get up every day and be myself. I don’t have to hide behind makeup and put on an act, I just get to be me.”

Frankie “Punkintown” Smith is a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Military Service for eight years. His comedy career highlights include five time Christian Country Music Association (CCMA) Comedian of the Year, 1999 CCMA Artist of the Decade and for seven years he hosted the Christian Country Music showcase in Nashville, Tennessee.

Jason Goodman and the Percheron Thunder

Truly back by popular demand is Jason Goodman and the Percheron Thunder through the sponsorship of Erick Schat’s Bakkery in Bishop, California.

Jason Goodman is no stranger to Mule Days having attended as a youngster with his uncle, the Mule Days legendary Von Twitchell. And now as adult, he has been astounding Mule Days crowds with exhibitions set to high energy music that showcase the true talent of his driving skills and the Percheron horses. Jason Goodman takes his six outstanding horses through a series of maneuvers rarely seen in this day and age. Roman riding through circles, large and small figure eights, and putting these amazing horses into a high speed gallop around the Mike Boothe Memorial arena.

Be sure to catch the Percheron Thunder in all five shows in the main arena and the Saturday morning parade. A sight you will not want to miss.

 

Twenty Mule Team Driven by Bobby Tanner

Bishop’s own Bobby Tanner driving the twenty mule team  is a sight to see. This team of mules and teamster display incredible athleticism and skill in the Mule Days arena and Saturday Parade. Don’t miss the chance to Meet & Greet the mules and teamsters at the end of the Sunday afternoon show.

 

Playhouse 395 “Singing through the West” and Mule Days BBQ

Local performing arts organization Playhouse 395 promises a memorable evening as they entertain with some your favorite patriotic and western songs. An all-volunteer, non-profit group, over the last decade Playhouse 395 has delighted Bishop and Eastern Sierra locals and visitors with their many amazing shows such as “Chicago,” “Oklahoma,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Guys ’n Dolls,” “The Sound of Music,” “South Pacific,” “The Music Man,” and many more.

Each year Playhouse 395 puts on a spring adult show, a fall youth show, and a summer Children’s Theater Workshop that teaches local youths how to sing, dance, act and to get involved as backstage crews for productions. JD Priest Band Returns for Saturday Night Dance

The JD Priest Band returns in 2016 to rock the house once again at the Saturday Night Dance. The filled to capacity Charles Brown Auditorium in 2015 was vibrating with a combination of Rockin’, Countrified, Bluesy-Americana that was every bit as contemporary as it was traditional.

In the mid-90’s, after serving in the United States Air Force,  JD Priest’s musical career began with the Americana-Country group Acoustic Connection. This is where he made his national television debut on TNN with Charlie Daniels on the Talent Roundup. He has also been voted Southern California’s Best Band in 2013 by Inland Empire Magazine and hailed as Best Out Of Town Band at Cochella Valley’s Inaugural Awards Spotlight. He has also played The Temecula Balloon and Wine Festival in Southern California and The Pioneer / Frontier Days in Prescott Arizona. The career highlight he is most proud of is performing for the Wounded Warriors returning home from Iraq & Afghanistan.
